If you live anywhere near a Verizon store (and not many in America are that far from a Big Red outpost), you'll probably have noticed that Verizon employees have been on strike since August 7th. In all 45,000 Verizon employees representing 2 separate unions have been on strike, but that is all over now.
The strange thing is that the unions and Verizon do not yet have a new contract signed. A statement from Communications Workers of America, one of the unions involved, says that there is an agreement on how the sides will proceed with negotiations. CWA also says that major issues remain, but the issues have become more "focused and narrowed".
So, Verizon employees are back to work, and, according to Verizon, they will work under the same terms of the contract that expired on August 6th until a new deal is signed.
