For those Android faithful that are looking for a slightly larger tablet than the Samsung Galaxy Tab, during the IFA 2011 event in Berlin, old Sammy officially took the wraps off their Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 model, a device that apparently is the world’s first mobile tablet to pack a Super AMOLED Plus display.
According to the guys over at Ubergizmo, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 packs a 1.4 GHz dual core processor, along with a huge 5100mAh battery capable of delivering up to a nice ten hours of video playback.
Specifications for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 are a 7.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus touch screen of course along with a 3 megapixel rear facing camera and 2 megapixel front facing camera, 1080p full HD video playback, HSPA+ 21Mbps and LTE connectivity, and runs the Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system.
Apparently the Galaxy Tab 7.7 also features Universal Remote Control functionality that enables the user to connect to such devices as set top boxes, TV’s, Blu-ray players, AV audio systems and DVD players.
The new Android slate is thinner than the original Samsung Galaxy Tab coming in at 7.89mm thick with a weight of 335 grams, and also supports video and voice calls without the necessity for Bluetooth or an additional headset.
We also have a hands-on video with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 courtsey of the guys over at Slash Gear which you can view below and delivers just over three and a half minutes of getting up close with the slate.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 will become available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models all with microSD support for up to 32GB, however as for just when the Android slate will be made available and for what price, old Sammy has for now kept that little detail to themselves, but as soon as more info becomes available we will of course pass it along.
